just came back from family dinner with relatives. it's some kind of outdoor dinner during the 7th month where you have irritating auctioneers. i totally dont believe in that religion but was dragged there by my mum. and she said it's ok to bring oreo.
i thought it would be great to see my relatives after so long and i wouldnt mind if that means oreo doesnt have to be home alone.
however. things turned out totally the opposite. now i wouldnt even give a damn about ANY of my relatives. no way.
firstly. that bastard (my uncle) shouted at us telling us to tie oreo to one side. and just for your info, the one side is this weird pole near the carpark. with fuel leaks, sand and litter here and there.
so i didnt bother (or rather i didnt hear except for darling who pretended to not hear) and i "entered" the dining area. which was at the carpark itself, just that there were tables and chairs.
then the bastard got pissed and told me off saying, "please lah. this is the dining area. people need to eat. can you think for them or not?"
so i ignored him and walked away. (when i'm pissed i dont give face. what the hell does "respect" means anyway) and went to our seats. but along the way some people commented that oreo's very pretty. very cute. bla bla. i thank you on behalf of oreo for those compliments :)
then we sat down. in peace. waiting for food. oreo was very obedient. she sat too. and looked around. she didnt even jump or anything. then darling suddenly told me...
darling: someone glared at us
me: oh who where
darling: there, the one behind.
so i turned. and saw this fat woman clad in clothes that looked 100years old. she was talking to the host of the event.fat woman (glaring and lotsa hand gestures): yada yada yada dog yada yada tell them lah yada yada
the host went to my other uncle.
seconds later my uncle came and said someone complained bla bla.
i carried oreo. stood up. stomped off.
turned around. pointed middle finger. walked off.

.
.
so what's wrong with dogs?
yes i understand there are people who are allergic to dogs. or just have a phobia for dogs.
but my dog was at our table. tied to the chair. sitting down. just looking around. not even fidgeting. her chair was not even close to the table. the tables are not very close to each other.
so you talk about hygiene. even if oreo's really not hygienic. is she near you? is she sharing the table with you? and i do take care of her. she's prolly more hygienic than you fat woman. and i think oreo's healthier than you too.
so you're scared that my dog will bite. if my dog bites. for goodness sake. i wouldnt let her out so confidently. afterall owner has to bear the consequences if his/her dog hurt a passerby. and no one would risk it. maybe you got bitten before, but you shouldnt generalise.
so you think they will pee and poo poo around the area. but the owner would pick it up. not all singaporeans are inconsiderate. if i thought of bringing her out. i would have brought out all necessary stuffs. like tissue. newspaper. to clear her waste. right? it wouldnt stink so bad.
some people out there are just so ignorant. they dont know a lot of things about keeping a pet. not that i am an expert. but i sure know more than you, who assumes what you wanna believe in.
you think dogs have ticks and fleas on them. not all. not all owners would neglect their dogs to that point. i mean i check oreo everyday. and brush her hair more than thrice a week. not all dogs are dirty. you all just dont understand.
actually i dont ask for your understanding. i just need you to realise one thing. the fact that you people dislike dogs. doesnt mean everyone has to dislike dogs. this is a liberal society. if my dog did not touch you or hurt you and is at least 8metres away from you. you shouldnt be disturbed. it's the same as you walking on the streets in your own neighbourhood. and someone else is walking a dog. you dont complain do you?
i dont understand why human discriminate dogs. they are living things too. they have feelings. they are such angels they touch your heart. they treat you with utmost sincerity. they are true to you always.
compare them with humans. humans lie. they kill. they backstab. they know and may practise infidelity. they may walk away from you when you need them. humans are basically ugly. i'm not saying all. but there are such people. so why dont humans discriminate one another. why dont you ask another human being to stay there and not come near you when he didnt even do anything to you. do you give sarcastic remarks when you see another human who didnt do anything to you?
recently signed a
petition (click here to view petition) initiated by ASD (Action for Singapore Dogs) to increase the sentence of a dog owner who ill treated his dog. he did not provide his dog with shelter. not even water. it's an Alaskan Malamute. it has two coats of fur. thus need extra water supply and plenty of shade or even air-con room to keep cool. the owner was warned by SPCA. but he ignored their advice and left his dog under the hot sun at this thrash area behind his terrace. the dog died of heat stroke. it had blood and foam oozing out of its mouth. the owner was charged with extreme and wilful act of cruelty. yet only fined $3ooo.
i dont understand why there's a difference between killing a dog and killing another human. it's still murder. if it was a human. the owner could be sentenced to death. i dont mean he should be put to death. but such a light punishment would not deter animal abuse. who doesnt have $3000? i can cough out that amount easily. anytime.
a few days ago while bringing oreo for a walk. saw this shih tzu. she looked perfectly fine except for her eyes. so i guess the owner sensed my concern. and told us its blind. my heart sank when i heard that. she's blind but she's still active and happy. i mean. how would humans react when they go blind suddenly? how long must they take to pick themselves up again? and when we human feel sad we have someone to talk to. what about dogs? for those dogs who dont have a companion dog at home. who understands them? they cant even voice out to us.
anyway. the owner of that shih tzu told us the dog belonged to his neighbour. but when it turned blind, they wanted to leave it to fend for itself in the wild and let it die outside of the house. which essentially means abandon the dog. so he picked it up and looked after it till today.
so what is wrong with the previous owner? are you trying to say that if one day your child turns blind you would leave him/her to die outside? you would abandon your child? let me tell you this. if u are humane and you love your child. you wouldnt. you would go around looking for doctors to treat him. and if to no avail, you would stand by him and take on all responsibilities to prevent him from getting hurt. to protect him with all your life.
there's this pets clinic around serangoon north area. one owner said his dog was sick and was sent there for treatment. the day after the vet gave the jab, his dog passed away. and it's cuz the vet gave the wrong jab, which was fatal. and when the owner pursued the case, and threatened to report to the police. the vet begged him not to. i dont know why the owner didnt in the end. but i dont see why the vet should be forgiven. cuz the owner said 3 of his friend's malteses also died cuz of the vet's unprofessionalism. if this is changed to an all-human scenario. it would have hit the headline news.
i dont know how many of you would feel disheartened by all the pain that humans had inflicted upon dogs. but i am tearing even when writing. these incidents are just few of the many i've encountered/read. i am sad. cuz humans are ugly. in many ways.
and i guess i shouldnt go on...totally depressing.
speak for those who have no voice, cuz they have no choice...
